Jail Information

Visiting an Inmate

Inmate visitation is scheduled for Sundays and Wednesdays. Female inmate visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Male inmate visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Inmates are allowed 1 15 minute visitation with one visitor at a time. If a visitor is under the age of 17, the visitor must be accompanied by an adult. All visitors must sign the visitors log and have a form of picture identification. No electronic equipment is permitted in the visitor area (i.e. cameras, cell phones, video cameras). No visitor is allowed to bring personal effects into the visitation area. No passing of items in the visitation area is permitted. Any visitor caught passing contraband to an inmate will be prosecuted. Any visitor that is intoxicated or being disruptive will not be allowed to visit an inmate. Anyone who is currently serving a sentence of probation , parole or who has been incarcerated in the Massac County Detention Center within the last 6 months will not be permitted to visit an inmate.  Contact visits with an inmate is not permitted.

Items you can bring for an Inmate

Inmates can receive prescription medication as long as it is in an authorized prescription bottle that has been prescribed to the inmate by a doctor and have a valid prescription date.

How an Inmate can make a phone call

Inmates can make phone calls from their cells. Inmates purchase phone cards from the Jail Commissary. Phone cards cannot be purchased by anyone but an inmate. An inmate uses his/her commissary money to purchase the phone card. Inmates may also make a collect phone call from the phone in their cell.

Stellar Systems also has a phone Kiosk in the lobby for Chirping and phone cards. 

How to place money on an Inmate's Commissary Account

You can put money into an inmate's commissary account by coming to the Massac County Detention Center, by bringing cash and using the Stellar Kiosk at the Massac County Detention Center. 


Posting Bond for an Inmate

Bond may be posted for an inmate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Bond is accepted  at the Massac County Detention Center by cash or credit card.   Follow the directions on the site to complete the bond process.

Writing an Inmate

Letters may be written to an inmate. All letters must have a return address and be unopened. Photos may be sent along with the letter. Only letters and photos will be allowed. Do not place any other items in the envelope. Send letters to inmates at the following address:
